pinch nude selfies is an act of erotic expression, and sharing them with a trusted partner can deepen your intimacy (and create tantalizing foreplay). Unfortunately, the joys of this hobby are often overshadowed by the angst of having photos stolen or shared without consent. Given the pervasive mixed messages about our bodies and our sexuality, it's no wonder that sexting has become such a charged topic.
Ever since I wrote an advice book on sexting, I've been fascinated by the politics of this most modern topic. Taking a nude photo of yourself and sharing it is part of consensual adult sex; distributing such images without the subject's consent or viewing them without their permission is abuse. As long as everyone involved enthusiastically consents to every step of the process, taking and sharing nude photos is one of the hottest things you can do. Read on for my expert tips for getting even more sexual pleasure from nudes.
1. Don't force yourself to get it right the first time - play around with your surroundings and take as many pictures as you want.
Just as I always advise you to prioritize your solo sex life (masturbation is part of healthy sexuality), a solo sexting life is key to good nudes. Take the time to find the angles that make you feel and look amazing. When you take photos with no immediate plans to share them, there's less pressure to get it right the first (or hundredth) time. You will relieve your nerves and your sense of stupidity. You can also moderate some of the intensity of sharing photos with a partner (or potential partner) by sending them to friends first (or “frexting”). Encourage beauty and confidence in the other.
Use your computer, use a digital camera, use your phone. Play with different angles: shooting from above tends to make you look more like a model in a photo shoot, while shooting from below can reveal neglected erotic shapes in your anatomy. You can hold the camera outside, slamming it with the touchscreen or the side button, depending on the device. You can use the timer, prop it up against a stack of books or on an affordable tripod, place it on the bed and hover over it, or use a selfie stick much better than any tourist.
Get creative with mirrors for you, upright, twisted and bent. Sometimes a selfie in a mirror across the room adds some mystery. Take a photo with a Polaroid and take a digital photo of it for analog intrigue. If you can get natural light from a window, do so. Remember to face your light source to avoid backlit photos. If you are traveling, experience the unusual setting of a hotel room. If you're in a public restroom or locker room, you can pull up your skirt or shirt to capture your semi-exhibitionist side (while still being safe behind closed doors).
